The Spain national football team, governed by the Royal Spanish Football Federation, has competed in men's international football since 1920. As one of eight nations to win the FIFA World Cup, Spain claimed the title in 2010 and has consistently qualified for the tournament since 1978. They have also participated in 12 out of 17 UEFA European Championships, winning their first in 1964 and securing a record fourth title in 2024. Spain's victory in the 2023 UEFA Nations League made them the second team, after France, to win the World Cup, European Championship, and Nations League. Spain is considered the most successful European team of the 21st century, with one World Cup, one Nations League, and three European Championships since 2008. Their 2008-2012 squad is often regarded as one of the greatest teams in football history, being the first to win three consecutive major titles, including back-to-back European Championships and the first European team to win a World Cup outside Europe. Spain also set a record with 35 consecutive undefeated matches from 2007 to 2009, a feat shared with Brazil.
