GERMAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM

The Germany national football team, governed by the German Football Association (DFB), has represented Germany in men's international football since 1908. From 1949 to 1990, Germany had separate national teams due to its division, with West Germany, East Germany, and Saarland each fielding their own teams. After reunification in 1990, these teams and records were merged, with the current team representing the unified Germany.

Germany is one of the most successful teams in football history, having won four FIFA World Cups (1954, 1974, 1990, 2014) and three European Championships (1972, 1980, 1996). They also won the 2017 Confederations Cup and are the only European nation to win a World Cup in the Americas. With both men's and women's teams winning World Cups, Germany is the most successful nation in combined World Cup victories.
