BELGIUM NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM

The Belgium national football team has represented Belgium in men's international football since their first match in 1904. Governed by the Royal Belgian Football Association, a co-founder of both FIFA and UEFA, Belgium has had periods of success on the global stage, particularly from 1920 to 1938, 1980 to 2002, and from 2014 onward. The team plays most of its home matches at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels and is known as the Red Devils since 1906.

Belgium has competed in fourteen FIFA World Cups, six UEFA European Championships, and three Olympic tournaments, winning gold at the 1920 Summer Olympics. The team boasts victories over reigning world champions like West Germany, Brazil, Argentina, and France. Their most successful eras were during the 1980s and early 1990s, finishing as runners-up at UEFA Euro 1980 and fourth in the 1986 FIFA World Cup, and in the 2010s, topping the FIFA World Ranking for the first time in 2015 and finishing third at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Notably, Belgium is the only team to have topped the FIFA rankings without winning a World Cup or continental trophy.
