RUGBY LEAGUE WORLD CUP AUSTRALIA 2026

All You Need To Know About The Rugby League World Cup

The 2026 Rugby League World Cup will be featuring 26 teams across three separate tournaments (Men’s, Women’s, and Wheelchair), playing a total of 53 matches over 31 days in October and November. It will be hosted across three countries and nine cities, with the Men’s and Women’s finals held at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

The Men’s competition includes 10 teams, divided into three pools: Pool A (Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Cook Islands), Pool B (England, Samoa, Lebanon), and Pool C (Tonga, Papua New Guinea, France). Rather than playing only within their own pools, teams in some groups will face off against teams from other pools. The tournament kicks off on October 15 with a marquee match between Australia and New Zealand. The Women’s tournament has 8 teams in two groups, while the Wheelchair tournament also has 8 teams in two pools. Matches will take place in venues including Sydney, Perth, Newcastle, Townsville, and Papua New Guinea — with all Wheelchair matches based in Wollongong.
