All You Need To Know About The Tasmania JackJumpers

The Tasmania JackJumpers are a professional basketball team from Hobart, Tasmania, that joined the National Basketball League (NBL) in the 2021–22 season. They play home games at MyState Bank Arena and the Silverdome. Named after the venomous jack jumper ant found in Tasmania, the JackJumpers clinched their first NBL championship in 2024.

The National Basketball League (NBL) announced in February 2019 that Tasmania was being considered for expansion, granting the state an NBL licence the following year. This resulted in the formation of the Tasmania JackJumpers, who joined the league in the 2021–22 season. The team's name was unveiled on 1 October 2020, with an original theme song, "Jackies Are On the March," released by the Tasmanian band Luca Brasi just before the team's debut game.

On 3 December 2021, the JackJumpers played their first match, defeating the Brisbane Bullets 83–74 in overtime. They completed their first season with a 17–11 record, reaching the semi-finals where they defeated Melbourne United 2–1, but ultimately lost to the Sydney Kings 3–0 in the grand final. In the 2023–24 season, the JackJumpers returned to the NBL Grand Final, winning their first championship by defeating Melbourne United 3–2, marking the first Tasmanian NBL title since 1981. The JackJumpers' home venue and training facility is MyState Bank Arena in Glenorchy, with at least two home games each season played at the Silverdome in Launceston.
