All You Need To Know About The NBL 

The NBL includes semi-pro and amateur basketball clubs from England and Wales, spanning levels 2 to 4 of the British basketball pyramid. Separate from the franchise-based BBL, there's no direct promotion to or relegation from the NBL. Yet, teams like the Plymouth Raiders and Bristol Flyers have moved from the NBL to the BBL. Additionally, the NBL oversees the English Women's Basketball League and youth leagues across different age groups.

NBL Contests

1. National Basketball League- Clubs face off home and away within their division, earning two points for a win and none for a loss. Typically, the top two teams in Division 2 advance to Division 1, while only the Division 3 league champions earn promotion.

2. Playoffs- Top eight teams in each division compete for the ultimate prize. Quarterfinals feature top four teams hosting lower-ranked opponents. The Playoff Finals Weekend at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Belle Vue, Manchester, hosts all Men's and Women's finals at a neutral venue.

3. National Cup- The National Cup, England and Wales' premier cup competition, is open to all NBL teams and follows a straight knockout format, with matches played at club venues and the final held at a neutral location. Until 2003, all British teams, including BBL teams, participated in this competition.

Top-tier players shine in critical moments, and the playoff opener delivered exactly that. Rebound's Chris Hughes, serving as All-Star organizer, content creator, YouTube host, commentator, and social media analyst, witnessed victories for Derby, Hemel, Bradford, and Reading, all advancing to the semi-finals.

The Final Fours for both the NBL and WNBL are now set. With just one win needed, all remaining teams are on the cusp of securing a spot at Manchester's National Basketball Performance Centre for the Senior Playoff Finals on April 27 and 28, 2024.
