Denis Shapovalov, born April 15, 1999, is a Canadian professional tennis player who has reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 10, achieved in September 2020. He is the third highest-ranked Canadian male player in history, behind Milos Raonic and Félix Auger-Aliassime. Shapovalov has won one ATP singles title and reached the semifinals of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, marking his best Grand Slam performance. He also has a career-high doubles ranking of No. 44, reached in February 2020.
As a junior, Shapovalov reached a world ranking of No. 2, winning the 2016 Wimbledon singles title and the 2015 US Open doubles title. He became the youngest player to make the semifinals of an ATP Masters 1000 event at the 2017 Canadian Open and won his first ATP title in 2019. Known for his aggressive playing style and powerful groundstrokes, Shapovalov has earned several accolades, including the ATP Most Improved Player award and Canada's Lionel Conacher Award for male athlete of the year in 2017.
