About the Gold Coast Suns

The Gold Coast Suns joined the AFL in 2011, becoming Queensland’s second club in the competition. Since then, the Suns have built their own identity on the Gold Coast, playing in the club’s distinctive red, gold and blue and developing a new generation of AFL support in the region.

The club has been home to some notable names over the years, with Gary Ablett Jr serving as the Suns’ inaugural captain and becoming the first Gold Coast player to win the Brownlow Medal in 2013. More recently, the Suns have continued to develop their playing list as they look to establish themselves as a regular finals contender.

Gold Coast finished the 2026 season in 13th place with nine wins from 23 games. The Suns play their home games at People First Stadium in Carrara, where they’ve been based since their first AFL season.
