Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks, born on October 22, 1989, and known professionally as JPEGMAFIA (stylized as JPEGMAFIA), is an American rapper, singer, and record producer from Flatbush, Brooklyn. He released his debut studio album, "Black Ben Carson," under Republic Records in 2016. His second album, "Veteran" (2018), released through a joint venture with Deathbomb Arc, received widespread critical acclaim. His third album, "All My Heroes Are Cornballs" (2019), was released independently and entered the Billboard 200. He returned to Republic Records for his fourth album, "LP!" (2021), which also garnered critical praise. In 2023, he collaborated with alternative rapper Danny Brown to release the studio album "Scaring the Hoes."JPEGMAFIA's music is primarily described as experimental hip-hop, though it incorporates a variety of genres, including trap, R&B, vaporwave, and noise rap. In an interview with Cambridge Union, Hendricks cited Kanye West as his biggest influence. He also mentioned early inspiration from the rock group Hanson. Other influences include Ol' Dirty Bastard, Throbbing Gristle, Skinny Puppy, MF DOOM, Lil B, SpaceGhostPurrp, Danny Brown, Chief Keef, Ice Cube, Rick Rubin, Cam'ron, Björk, Janelle Monáe, Radiohead, The Backstreet Boys, Dirty Beaches, and Arca.
