BECK AUSTRALIAN TOUR TICKETS 2026

All You Need To Know About Beck

Beck is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. He is known for a musical style that combines elements of hip hop, indie rock, folk, funk, soul, and psychedelia. He has released thirteen studio albums, over 130 singles, and numerous collaborations.

Beck was born in Los Angeles and grew up in a family of musicians, including his father, David Campbell, who is a professional arranger, conductor, and composer. Beck began playing guitar and writing songs at an early age and formed his first band at thirteen. His early influences included blues musicians such as Leadbelly and Mississippi John Hurt, as well as punk and rap acts like the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy.

Beck released his debut album, Golden Feelings, in 1993. He followed this up with the critically acclaimed album, Mellow Gold, in 1994, which included the hit single, "Loser." The success of this album established Beck as a prominent figure in alternative music.

In 1996, Beck released Odelay, which featured a blend of styles and earned him two Grammy Awards. He followed this up with Midnite Vultures (1999), Sea Change (2002), and Guero (2005), all of which were commercially and critically successful. He has since released a number of albums and singles, including four albums in a row that have all achieved number one on the U.S. Billboard 200.  Beck has also collaborated with a number of artists, including Jack White, Danger Mouse, and the Flaming Lips. He has won many awards, including six Grammys, and is widely considered one of the most influential and important artists of his generation.

Top 3 Beck Songs

Here are three of Beck's most iconic and celebrated songs:

"Loser" – This breakthrough single from Beck's 1994 album Mellow Gold became an anthem of the slacker generation. Its quirky lyrics and laid-back groove solidified his place as a unique voice in alternative music.

"Where It's At" – From the Grammy-winning Odelay (1996), this funky, sample-heavy track is a perfect showcase of Beck's eclectic style and knack for blending genres.

"Morning Phase" – The title track from Beck's 2014 album, Morning Phase, is a poignant and atmospheric ballad that highlights his emotive songwriting and won him a Grammy for Album of the Year.
