All You Need To Know About The 1975 Band

The 1975 is an English pop rock British band formed in 2002 in Wilmslow, Cheshire. The band consists of lead vocalist, principal songwriter, and guitarist Matty Healy, lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer and primary producer George Daniel. The name of the band was inspired by a page of scribblings found in Healy's copy of On the Road by Jack Kerouac that was dated "1 June, The 1975".

The band gained fame with their debut album in 2013. Their subsequent albums, including "I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It" (2016) and "A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships" (2018), achieved critical acclaim and topped the charts worldwide. Their recent works, "Notes on a Conditional Form" (2020) and "Being Funny in a Foreign Language" (2022), continued their success, with the latter receiving a nomination for British Album of the Year at the 2023 Brit Awards.

The 1975’s Top 3 Best Songs

From balladry to bangers, pop-punk to Britpop, there's truly something for everyone in The 1975's genre-spanning back catalogue. Here are their top songs of all time:

  1. ‘Love It If We Made It’- This song encapsulates the current zeitgeist like few others, touching on everything from social media chaos to controversial news, substance abuse, and the loss of young artists, all in a succinct four-minute track.
  2. ‘The Sound’- Upon performing this song live at The Brits in 2017, the once-adored band couldn't resist taking a playful swipe at their critics, adding a fitting touch to their performance.
  3. ‘Sex’ (EP Version)- Apologies for the nostalgic tone, but the raw and unpolished version of 'Sex' before its official release holds a certain rough charm that demands attention.
