About Red Hot Chili Peppers

Few bands have moved between funk, alternative rock and stadium-sized rock quite like Red Hot Chili Peppers. Formed in Los Angeles in 1983, the group has built a catalogue spanning more than four decades, evolving from the raw funk-punk of their early records into one of the biggest rock bands in the world.

Their breakthrough came with 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik, which featured Give It Away and Under the Bridge. Albums including Californication, By the Way and Stadium Arcadium followed, adding songs such as Scar Tissue, Otherside, Can't Stop and Dani California to a catalogue that now stretches across multiple generations of fans.

The band's current line-up brings together Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and John Frusciante. Frusciante's return in 2019 reunited the four musicians behind some of RHCP's best-known albums and was followed by two releases in 2022, Unlimited Love and Return of the Dream Canteen.

Both records became a major part of the band's next chapter on the road. The Global Stadium Tour began in 2022 and took Red Hot Chili Peppers to stadiums across North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania, eventually bringing the band back to Australia in early 2023.

Red Hot Chili Peppers popular songs

1. Under the Bridge – Released on Blood Sugar Sex Magik in 1991, Under the Bridge remains one of Red Hot Chili Peppers' most recognisable songs.

2. Californication – The title track from the band's 1999 album, Californication has remained a major part of the band's catalogue and live performances.

3. Can't Stop – Released on By the Way in 2002, Can't Stop has become a long-running Red Hot Chili Peppers concert favourite.

What to expect from a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert

RHCP don't necessarily play the same show twice. Setlists regularly shift between concerts, meaning the combination of hits, album tracks and newer material can change from one night to the next.

Their shows also leave room for the musicianship of Flea, Chad Smith and John Frusciante, with instrumental jams and extended introductions often appearing between songs. Recent touring has mixed tracks such as Californication, Give It Away and Can't Stop with songs from Unlimited Love and Return of the Dream Canteen, rather than relying on a fixed greatest-hits set.
