Bum Rush the Show (1987), and follow-up, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (1988), which topped The Village Voice's Pazz & Jop critics' poll, received critical acclaim. Albums like Fear of a Black Planet (1990) and Apocalypse 91... The Enemy Strikes Black (1991) continued their success.Despite lineup changes, Chuck D and Flavor Flav have remained consistent members, with DJ Lord joining in 1998. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013 and honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020, Public Enemy remains one of hip hop's most influential and radical acts.
