Casey Thai Luong, known professionally as Keshi, was born on November 4, 1994. He is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist, renowned for his songs "Like I Need U", "Limbo", and "Drunk". Inspired by Drake Bell's character on *Drake & Josh*, he taught himself guitar using his grandfather's classical guitar and a Vietnamese music book. The stage name "Keshi" comes from a childhood nickname given by his fiancée's parents. He and his fiancée have known each other since elementary school.

In 2017, Keshi began sharing his music on SoundCloud, using YouTube tutorial videos to hone his skills in writing, producing, and engineering. In 2019, he left his nursing job and moved to New York City to sign with Island Records. Keshi cites John Mayer, Frank Ocean, the 1975, Drake, and Bryson Tiller as his musical influences.
