The connection between HYUKOH and Sunset Rollercoaster began in early 2020 with a casual conversation in Tokyo. HYUKOH was on tour promoting their album *through love*, while Sunset Rollercoaster was working on their third studio album. This meeting led to OHHYUK featuring on Sunset Rollercoaster's track "Candlelight" from the album *Soft Storm*, and Sunset Rollercoaster's remake of "Help" from HYUKOH’s *through love*. These collaborations provided fans with new music during the pandemic and sparked the idea of a larger project.

In March 2023, when Sunset Rollercoaster visited Seoul for a headline show, both bands solidified their desire to collaborate further, resulting in a joint effort called AAA. In May 2023, they launched a unique songwriting camp at Music Village 1939 in Gapyeong, where the project, initially dubbed AAA, eventually became the album's title. The name carries multiple meanings, including references to car insurance from Sunset Rollercoaster's first U.S. tour, quality standards, and cultural associations with "Asia." OHHYUK and Kuo described the title as representing "something good" and "guaranteed quality."
