His father, a Punjabi Sikh, traces his family roots to Lahore during the Partition, while his mother, a Bengali Hindu, hails from a musical background. Arijit's early exposure to music began at home, with influences from his maternal aunt's Indian classical training, his maternal grandmother's singing, and his maternal uncle's expertise in playing the tabla.
