All You Need To Know About Arctic Monkeys

Hailing from Sheffield, England, Arctic Monkeys emerged as a rock band in 2002. The band lineup includes lead singer Alex Turner, drummer Matt Helders, guitarist Jamie Cook, and bassist Nick O'Malley. Former bassist Andy Nicholson departed the group in 2006, soon after the release of their debut album.

Arctic Monkeys gained early recognition through the Internet, signaling a potential shift in new band promotion and marketing. Their debut album, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" (2006), was lauded by critics and topped the UK Albums Chart, breaking records for the fastest-selling debut album in British chart history at the time. It earned them the 2007 Brit Award for Best British Album and has since been revered as an exceptional debut. The subsequent album, "Favourite Worst Nightmare" (2007), also received critical acclaim and secured the 2008 Brit Award for Best British Album. While their later albums "Humbug" (2009) and "Suck It and See" (2011) were well-received, they didn't match the impact of their initial releases.

The band has ushered in a spectacular new era with their sixth studio album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, and they are over-the-moon to announce their return to Australia and New Zealand for a mammoth run of arena shows in February and March 2019.

Best Arctic Monkeys Songs of All Time - Top 3 Tracks

  1. A Certain Romance (2006)- Turner's teenage composition of "A Certain Romance" showcased his exceptional lyrical talent, effectively critiquing the demonization of "chavs" in the early 2000s.

  2. Do I Wanna Know? (2013)- The song exudes the confidence of a band hitting a surprising peak a decade into their career. Footage from this year's Reading festival depicts the teenage crowd not only singing along to "Do I Wanna Know" but also to its powerful guitar riff, emphasizing its impact.

  3. 505 (2007)- The evolution of "505" from an overlooked album track to one of Arctic Monkeys' top songs, especially among younger listeners, is intriguing.

Upcoming European Tours

Arctic Monkeys bans have gone on to put out a further six studio albums which have all been hugely successful, becoming a cult favorite across the UK indie scene and beyond. Their most recent serving, 'The Car', arrived in October 2022.

The band will play three nights at Dublin's 3Arena and one night at Belfast's SSE Arena in October 2023, following the postponement of their summer Dublin date.
