André Léon Marie Nicolas Rieu, born on October 1, 1949, is a renowned Dutch violinist and conductor recognized for his establishment of the Johann Strauss Orchestra known for its enchanting waltz performances.

Rieu established the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1987, originally comprising 12 members, and held its inaugural performance on January 1, 1988. Presently, the orchestra consists of 50 to 60 musicians. Rieu himself plays a 1667 Stradivarius violin.

Rieu and his orchestra have performed across Europe, North and South America, Japan, and Australia. During the 2008 tour, Rieu showcased a full-scale replica of Empress Sisi's Castle, marking one of the largest touring stages at that time.
