All You Need To Know About AC/DC

AC/DC, an Australian rock band formed in 1973, was established by rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Malcolm Young and lead guitarist Angus Young, who is his brother. Their current roster includes Angus, bassist Cliff Williams, drummer Phil Rudd, lead vocalist Brian Johnson, and rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, who is Malcolm's nephew. Their musical style is often categorized as hard rock, blues rock, and heavy metal, although the band simply refers to it as "rock and roll." They have been credited as an influence on the new wave of British heavy metal bands, like Iron Maiden and Saxon. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted AC/DC in 2003.

AC/DC went through several lineup changes before dropping their debut album, High Voltage (1975). After Let There Be Rock (1977), the Young brothers, Bon Scott (lead vocals), Williams (bass), and Rudd (drums) stabilized the membership. Following the release of Highway to Hell (1979), Scott passed away from alcohol poisoning. Despite considering disbandment, they continued as requested by Scott's parents, eventually recruiting English-born singer Johnson as their new frontman. Back in Black (1980), their first album with Johnson was dedicated to Scott's memory and became the second best-selling album of all time.

The band maintained the same lineup for 20 years until 2014 when Malcolm retired due to early-onset dementia (he passed away three years later) and Rudd faced legal issues. Stevie replaced Malcolm for the album Rock or Bust (2014), while Slade substituted for Rudd during the tour. In 2016, due to worsening hearing loss, Johnson was replaced by Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose for the rest of the year's shows.

“Back in Black”- Instead of creating a sentimental tribute to Bon Scott after his 1980 passing, AC/DC chose to honor his memory by producing their most powerful and energetic record.

“Thunderstruck”- By 1990, AC/DC appeared to be losing their relevance, a decade after the success of Back in Black. While they still maintained a strong live presence, securing new chart-topping hits proved challenging.
