He won the Chortle Student Comedian of the Year award in 2009 and has appeared on shows like Live at the Apollo and Taskmaster. Lycett made headlines by briefly changing his name to Hugo Boss in protest against the fashion brand. He's also a prominent figure in the LGBTQ community.

In 2009, Lycett won the Chortle Student Comedian of the Year award and the Bath New Act competition. He was a runner-up in the 2009 Laughing Horse New Act of the Year and a finalist in the 2011 BBC New Comedy Awards. His debut stand-up show, "Some Lycett Hot," was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2012. Additionally, in October 2023, Lycett won The Comedy Award at the 2023 Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards.
